Madras Gymkhana Club recently played host to the much-anticipated “Petcation Pet Carnival” on the 21st of May, 2023. The event proved to be a resounding success, offering a delightful and enriching experience for pet parents and their furry companions. With around 50 to 60 members of the club in attendance, the carnival was abuzz with excitement, fun, entertainment, and valuable learning opportunities.
It’s All About Agility
The Petcation Pet Carnival featured a diverse range of activities, catering to the varied interests of pet parents and their furry friends. One of the highlights of the event was the agility course, where dogs showcased their athleticism and intelligence by navigating through a series of obstacles. The crowd cheered with excitement as the agile canines demonstrated their skills, providing a wonderful display of teamwork between pets and their owners.
Bonding Games
Revathi Sitaram, a certified dog trainer, who provides personalized canine training and pet boarding services under the banner Paws & Play, showcased her exceptional skills by executing the Pet Carnival with finesse. She engaged pet parents and their beloved companions with a variety of bonding activities that kept everyone entertained throughout the Pet Carnival. Revathi’s expertise and deep understanding of pet behaviour were evident in her interactions, creating a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere for all.
Assisting Revathi with her anchoring skills was Priya, who played a pivotal role in ensuring that the carnival proceeded smoothly. Priya’s enthusiasm and charisma added an extra spark to the event, engaging the audience and keeping them engaged throughout the day. Her effortless interaction with pet parents and her ability to keep the energy levels high were commendable.
Learn While You Play
Pet parents at the Pet Carnival had the opportunity to learn a lot about pet care and training through the medium of games. Revathi could be seen doling out grooming tips, nutrition advice, and positive reinforcement techniques, while playing fun games with pets and parents. For example, the ‘Amla On a Spoon’ game taught parents how to and how not to walk a pet. By playing the ‘Temptation Road’ game, parents understood how easily a tasty treat can make pets go off course, and how best to reign them in. The Pet Carnival thus presented a fun way for pet parents to obtain deeper insights into pet behaviour and how to effectively cater to pet needs.
Colours Galore
The Pet Carnival also featured a colour theme, where adorable pets donned their finest outfits in Red, Yellow or Orange and strutted down the runway. From elegant costumes to quirky ensembles, the theme showcased the creativity and love that pet parents put into pampering their furry companions. The audience was captivated by the charm and style exhibited by the four-legged models, making it a delightful experience for everyone present.
The Protection Show
As the sun began to set, the Pet Carnival reached its crescendo with a breath-taking protection show by Sugarnesh, the heart and soul of Sugu’s Dog Artistry (SDA), a renowned dog training academy in Chennai. His display of obedience and protection skills left the audience in awe, highlighting the incredible bond between humans and their canine companions. The thrilling performance was met with thunderous applause and was undoubtedly one of the most memorable moments of the carnival.

The President of Madras Gymkhana Club extended his appreciation to the event organizers and Petcation for putting together such an outstanding show.
